The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara’s prices are out and they start from Rs 10.45 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. It’s Maruti’s flagship offering and is retailed via the carmaker’s premium NEXA outlets. The compact SUV comes in six trims and with the choice of mild-hybrid and strong-hybrid petrol engines. Here are all the details in 10 images:
At the front, the Grand Vitara gets a large front grille with a thick chrome bar that connects both LED DRLs. The headlights, which are projector LED units, are placed in a separate enclosure.
In profile, the Grand Vitara’s strong shoulder line and quite an upright stance gives it a SUV-like vibe. Also, the 17-inch alloys, which not only look nice, fill the large wheel arches quite well.
At the rear, the connected LED tail lamps give the SUV an upmarket look. Bold ‘Grand Vitara’ badging rounds off the overall design.
Inside, the Grand Vitara gets a premium-looking dashboard design with a floating touchscreen unit as seen in recent Maruti cars. The dashboard is finished in two colour schemes: black/maroon for mild-hybrid and black with champagne insets for the strong-hybrid.
Rear seat occupants are treated with a comfortable bench and generous amounts of legroom. However, taller occupants might find headroom to be slightly on the tighter side, especially If you are taller than 5 foot 10.
Stand out features include a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, automatic climate control, and cruise control. Safety is taken care of by up to six airbags, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, hill hold assist and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
However, some niceties like ventilated front seats, digital driver’s display and a premium sound system are limited to the more expensive strong-hybrid variants.
Maruti’s compact SUV comes with the choice of 1.5-litre petrol engines (two different motors) with mild-hybrid and strong-hybrid technology. The former also gets the option of all-wheel drive with the manual ‘box. Take a look at the detailed specifications:
Engine |
1.5-litre mild-hybrid powertrain |
1.5-litre strong-hybrid powertrain |
Power |
103PS |
116PS (combined) |
Torque |

Drivetrain |

Claimed Fuel Efficiency |

The hybrid powertrain, despite delivering stellar fuel efficiency, does have a chink in its armour and that is reduced boot space due to the battery eating up the volume. No such problems with the mild-hybrid model though.
Prices of the Grand Vitara range between Rs 10.45 lakh and Rs 19.65 lakh (ex-showroom). This puts it in contention with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, MG Astor, and the Toyota Hyryder.
