Sinister looks, a rather lovely and upmarket cabin and stomach crunching numbers…. McLaren has really pushed the game forward with their newest hypercar!

McLaren W1

McLaren’s new hypercar, the new W1, is here in all its glory as the successor to the iconic P1 and F1 hypercars. As with any of the carmaker’s previous supercars, the new P1 pushes the boundaries with stonking looks, a thoroughly modern cockpit and of course, plenty of performance.

We intend to do things differently rather than our usual format. So in this report, we are going to give you a rundown of the McLaren using its interesting stats and numbers!

McLaren W1

  • 2 gullwing doors that make this new McLaren W1 look sinister and badass!

McLaren W1

  • Active rear wing that extends by 300 mm for improved aerodynamics while pinning the throttle hard (more on that later)!

  • Fighter jet-like cockpit dominated by 2 crisp looking screens! One can opt for shifting lights to remind you to change gear!

McLaren W1

  • Cabin can seat 2 occupants – seating position is static, while steering wheels and pedals can be adjusted for that full fighter jet like experience!

McLaren W1

  • Propelling the W1 is a mammoth 4-litre twin-turbo V8 that revs up to a whopping 9,200 rpm redline!

McLaren W1

  • That, paired with an electric motor, delivers a whopping 1,275 PS and 1,340 Nm, making it the most powerful McLaren to be ever made.

McLaren W1

  • 1.38 kWh battery pack’s full focus is performance! Delivers only 2 km of EV-only driving range.

McLaren W1

  • Acceleration numbers are mind boggling - 0-100 kmph comes up in 2.7 seconds, 200 comes in 5.8 seconds and 300 is dispatched in around 12.7 seconds!

McLaren W1

  • Keep the throttle pinned and the W1 maxes out at 350 kmph (electronically limited).

McLaren W1

  • 390 mm carbon ceramic discs can anchor down this hypercar from 200 kmph to stand still in just 100 metres.

McLaren W1

  • Inspired by F1’s ground effect cars, and ride height can be dialled down by up to 37 mm to deliver up to 1,000 kg downforce in high speed corners!

McLaren W1

  • Fun fact: McLaren tested the W1 for 350 hours in the wind tunnel to fine tune the aerodynamics!

McLaren W1

  • Lastly, only 399 will ever be made and all of them are already accounted for.

Clearly, the new McLaren W1 is serious business and these stats clearly show it. But coming back at it real soon is a new hypercar from the Prancing Horse - Ferrari. This is the beginning of the new age holy trinity, and we bet Porsche will join the bandwagon pretty soon. Stay tuned for a similar story from ZigWheels on the same!
