To commemorate the Taigun’s first birthday in the country, Volkswagen India has introduced a special First Anniversary Edition that’s based on the Topline trim. And like VW’s other special-edition models, the Taigun First Anniversary Edition boasts small cosmetic revisions and a new body colour. Here are the real-life images of this variant and everything you need to know:
The easiest way to tell the Taigun First Anniversary Edition apart is this striking Rising Blue colour from the Virtus which looks striking. No cosmetic changes at the front-end, but this edition boasts high lux fog lamps for better illumination.
In profile, the Taigun First Anniversary Edition gets a body-coloured garnish on the doors as well as black-coloured ORVMs and roof. Plus, there is a black graphic sticker on the C-pillar. Keen eyed viewers will also notice the presence of a ‘1st’ badge on the front fender and door-edge protector as well.
The rear-end looks exactly the same as the standard model. Apart from the blue colour, you can have the Taigun special edition in red and blue exterior hues as well.
Changes are more miniscule on the inside, limited to the ‘1st’ badge on the steering wheel and aluminium pedals in the special-edition model. And since this is based on the Topline model, you get all the bells and whistles including a digital driver’s display, 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats, and a sunroof.
The Taigun Special Edition can be had only with the 115PS, 1-litre, turbo-petrol engine with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. Apart from that, you can have the SUV with a more powerful 150PS, 1.5-litre, TSI engine, with either a six-speed MT or a seven-speed DSG.
The Taigun First Anniversary Edition commands a Rs 30,000 premium over the Topline trim it’s based on. Its rivals include the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor, Maruti Grand Vitara and the Toyota Hyryder.
