BS6 Leoncino 500 Is Here And It’s More Affordable!

Benelli India has launched the 2021 iteration of the Leoncino 500 at a starting price of Rs 4,59,900. Compared to its predecessor, priced at Rs 4,79,000, the Leoncino 500 BS6 costs Rs 20,000 less.

The 500cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin DOHC engine now runs cleaner to comply with the BS6 norms. Its output figures stand at 47.5PS and 46Nm, same as before. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission.

The 2021 Leoncino 500 hasn’t seen a lot of upgrades on the cosmetic front. It features the same neo-retro theme with an all-LED headlamp. The turn indicators and the tail lamp too are LEDs. The twin-pod asymmetrical cluster has also been carried over from the last-gen motorcycle. The front fender features the signature ornament: the Lion of Pesaro.

Suspension duties for the 2021 Benelli Leoncino 500 are handled by a chunky 50mm USD fork with a preload- and rebound adjustable rear monoshock. Stopping power is courtesy radially mounted 320mm discs up front and a 260mm single disc at the back. Dual-channel, switchable ABS comes standard. The Leoncino 500 BS6 sits on 17-inch alloys wrapped in 120/70 front and 160/60 rear tyres.

We think Benelli could have taken this opportunity to throw in some new features such as Bluetooth connectivity. The bike is available in two colours: Steel Grey and Leoncino Red. While the former is priced at Rs 4,59,900, the latter retails for Rs 10,000 more, at Rs 4,69,900.

As mentioned earlier, the Leoncino 500 BS6 is currently the most affordable performance scrambler offering in India. It takes on the recently launched, more premium and powerful Ducati Scrambler 800 range.
