Back in April 2021, Triumph took the wraps off the 2021 Street Scrambler. Now, the off-road motorcycle has finally made its way to our shores. Let’s take a look at it:
What’s The Price? Who Are Its Rivals?
Triumph has priced the 2021 Street Scrambler at Rs 9,35,000 (ex-showroom India).
In the market, the Street Scrambler primarily rivals the more powerful and affordable Ducati Scrambler 800. However, for a similar price, one can also get the Suzuki V-Strom 650.
What’s New?
For 2021, the Street Scrambler bears a handful of updates. Starting with the aesthetics, the new Street Scrambler comes with a new aluminium number board, brushed aluminium headlight brackets, and a new heel guard. All this adds to its rugged persona and enhances the overall design. Topping it off, you get three new colours to choose from, namely-- Urban Grey, Matt Khaki/Matt Ironstone, and Jet Black.
Along with these elements, Triumph has also thrown in a new ribbed seat with a mix of leather and textile for the seat cover.
The new Street Scrambler now packs all-LED illumination, ride by wire, immobiliser, and a semi-digital instrument cluster, along with the previous package including switchable ABS, riding modes, traction control, and a USB charger.
What’s Unchanged?
What remains unchanged for 2021 is the motor. While it does bear some internal changes to adhere to the stringent BS6 norms, it is essentially the same 900cc, parallel-twin motor making an unchanged 65PS and 80Nm. Besides, it offers most of its torque from as low as 3000rpm, but comes equipped with just a 5-speed gearbox.
You also get the same underpinnings. The dual cradle frame continues to be suspended by a telescopic fork and preload adjustable dual shock absorbers (120mm of wheel travel at both ends). It continues to ride on 19-/17-inch (F/R) spoke wheels.
The bike tips the scales at 223kg, which is quite high, but counters it with a low seat height of 790mm.
ZigSays
The 2021 Triumph Street Scrambler is a purpose-oriented yet likeable motorcycle. While it costs Rs 1.35 lakh more than the Ducati Scrambler Icon, the Street Scrambler serves a more serious off-road purpose thanks to its spoke wheels and other off-road elements. So if you’re in the market for a scrambler and off-roading is on your to-do list, the Steet Scrambler is likely the bike for you.
