British bikemaker Brixton Motorcycles has launched its long-awaited modern classic, the Cromwell 1200. Here’s what the rival to the Triumph Bonneville range packs.
It gets a thoroughly retro design with the curvy bodywork, round LED headlight, tan leather seat and spoked wheels. However, Brixton has given the Cromwell 1200 a dash of modern tech with the round TFT console and ride-by-wire.
It’s powered by a 1222cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor with the output rated at 83PS and 108Nm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Not to mention, Brixton has also equipped the Cromwell with traction control and two riding modes: Eco and Sport. The top speed is limited to 198kmph. For reference, the Triumph Bonneville T120 makes 80PS and 105Nm.
The Cromwell uses a KYB front fork and KYB dual rear springs, while the braking setup consists of dual 310mm front disc brakes bitten by Nissin callipers and a 260mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS. It runs on an 18-inch front and a 17-inch rear spoked wheel setup.
At 235kg, the Brixton Cromwell is not lightweight even when you exclude the 16-litre fuel tank capacity.
It’ll go on sale next year in the European market and is unlikely to enter India any time soon.
