The 2022 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been launched in India from Rs 8.35 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s the first mid-life update for Maruti’s people mover and continues to come in four trims: LXI, VXI, ZXI, and ZXI+. An important point to note is that the CNG and automatic transmission now come in higher-spec ZXI and ZXI+ trims respectively.

Cosmetic changes are minor. The grille insert has been revised with minimal chrome touches, flanked by the same set of dual-barrel projector headlights (still no DRLs). Dual-tone alloy rims are the only change made to the profile. And at the rear, the chrome strip, now moved above the Suzuki badge, is sleeker.

Very minor changes, yes indeed. The easiest way to tell the facelifted Ertiga apart is the new Dignity Brown colour. Plus, Silky Silver is now Splendid Silver, so there is a minor difference in its shade.

Inside, save for the revised wood finish, the dashboard design and layout remain the same. There are new features in the form of the new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system (from the Baleno), connected car tech (telematics only), cruise control, four airbags, electronic stability control, and hill hold assist.

Bits like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering-mounted audio controls, keyless entry with push-button start, automatic climate control, and electrically adjustable ORVMs have been carried forward.

The Ertiga’s 1.5-litre petrol engine has been revised with the addition of Suzuki’s DualJet tech and mild-hybrid technology. Overall power figures are slightly lower than before, but the fuel efficiency figures have seen a rise. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard, while the automatic variants now get a new 6-speed torque converter with paddle shifters instead of a 4-speed AT. CNG variants get just the stick shifter.
