Force Motors has launched the much awaited 2024 Gurkha at Rs 16.75 lakh (ex-showroom). The Gurkha now gets a 5-door version with added features, a more powerful engine and extra seats. However, they did not ignore the 3-door version, as that too got the feature updates and a higher tune for the engine.
Here’s a look at the pricing of the new Gurkha 3-door and 5-door versions compared to the outgoing models:

Gurkha 3-door (old) |
2024 Gurkha 3-door (new) |

Rs 18 lakh |
The 2024 Gurkha 5-door gets the same boxy silhouette with a similar design as seen on the 3-door version of the Gurkha. It gets a set of round LED projector headlights with DRLs and the front bumper housing the fog lamps.

A new addition is the 18-inch dual-tone alloys with a 10-spoke design for both the models. The 5-door version has a significantly longer wheelbase to accommodate the third row, which gets captain seats for the last row. Getting in and out of the third row can be done from the boot as well. As seen on most offroaders, it gets a spare wheel attached to the tailgate and a ladder to access the roof.
The 2024 Gurkha gets an upgraded cabin with new features for both 3- and 5-door versions. It features an updated 9-inch infotainment screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and a digital instrument cluster. Other features include a manual AC, tilt and telescopic steering adjustment, and all powered windows.
In terms of safety, you get dual front airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

The significant update comes with an upgraded engine which now gets a more powerful tune. It features the same Mercedes-sourced 2.6-litre diesel engine making 140 PS and 320 Nm, which is 49PS and 70Nm more than before. It is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and a four-wheel-drive system with shift-on-the-fly capability
Off-road capabilities are one of the Gurkha’s strengths and on this front, you get a manual front and rear differential lock. The addition of the factory-fitted snorkel means the Gurkha has an impressive water-wading capacity of 700mm.
The Gurkha is a larger alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. The 3-door and 5-door versions will lock horns with the Thar 3-door and the upcoming 5-door version respectively.
Let us know your thoughts about the 2024 Gurkha, would you pick it over the Mahindra Thar or the Maruti Jimny, or would you wait for the Thar 5-door which is expected to launch on August 15. Drop in your views in the comments section.
