The Maruti Suzuki Celerio CNG has been launched in India at Rs 6.58 lakh (ex showroom). It is available in a single trim: VXI, commanding a premium of Rs 95,000 over the VXI petrol (Rs 5.63 lakh).
The Celerio CNG is powered by the new 1-litre K10C Dualjet petrol engine. Peak power, however, drops to 56PS and 82Nm, 11PS and 9Nm lower than the petrol variant. Transmission option is limited to a 5-speed manual to keep costs in check. The hatch gets a 60-litre CNG tank (water equivalent) and has a claimed efficiency of 35.6km/kg.
Considering it’s offered only in the mid-spec VXI trim, the Celerio CNG features basics like power steering, manual air-con, a multi-info display, plastic wheel covers, central locking, front and rear power windows, and electrically adjustable ORVMs. Passenger safety is secured by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors.
It misses out on the touchscreen infotainment system, alloy rims, and keyless entry with push-button start since these are limited to the top-spec petrol variant only.

The Celerio CNG might be slightly disadvantaged compared to the soon-to-be-launched Tiago CNG, considering Tata will offer the cleaner fuel option in the top-spec trims.
Apart from the Tiago, the Celerio CNG rivals the Hyundai Santro CNG as well as its stablemate, the Maruti Wagon R CNG.
