Maruti Suzuki has launched the updated Eeco van in India from Rs 5.13 lakh (ex-showroom). As part of its midlife update, the MPV gets minor cosmetic enhancements, a handful of new features and a much more fuel-efficient powertrain. It continues to be available in two trims – Standard and AC – with either five or seven seats.

You’ll need to shell out Rs 50,000 more than before for the updated Eeco.
Starting with styling updates, the Eeco gets a new Metallic Brisk Blue exterior hue. It also gets a new steering wheel from the S-Presso, while the rudimentary sliding AC controls have been replaced by conventional rotary knobs.
New feature additions come in the form of a digital driver’s display and a cabin AC filter (limited to AC variants), while the cabin lamps have a nifty battery saving function. It also gets an engine immobilizer, in addition to its existing safety kit that includes dual airbags, ABS with EBD and child locks for the rear doors.
The main update for the Eeco is underneath the hood as it gets a gustier heart. The new 1.2-litre petrol engine now gets dual VVT and puts out 81PS and 104Nm, which is 8PS and 10Nm more than before. CNG outputs stand at 72PS and 95Nm, making it 9PS and 10Nm more potent than before. The motor still continues to drive the rear wheels via a five-speed manual.
And despite a more powerful heart, the Eeco’s delivers 19.71kmpl for the petrol variants and 26.78km/kg, which is 3.6kmpl and 5.9km/kg more than before respectively.

These small updates surely help spruce the Eeco’s comfort quotient. At this price point, the Eeco doesn’t have any direct rivals in the country. However, the Renault Triber, specifically the lower trims, is another MPV with seven seats you can consider.
