During the launch of the facelifted Hector at Auto Expo 2023, MG Motor India had listed the Shine variant on its official brochure, but prices weren’t released. Today, the carmaker has announced prices of the Hector’s one-above-base Shine trim, which is offered with all three powertrain options.
Let’s take a look at the detailed variant-wise prices of this trim:
Powertrains |
Style |
Shine (Reintroduced) |
Smart |
Turbo-petrol MT |
Rs 15 lakh |
Rs 16.34 lakh |
Rs 17.16 lakh |
Turbo-petrol CVT |
— |
Rs 17.54 lakh |
Rs 18.35 lakh |
Diesel-MT |
— |
Rs 18.59 lakh |
Rs 19.67 lakh |
The MG Hector Shine commands a premium of Rs 1.34 lakh over the base-spec Style trim. However, it’s around Rs 1.08 lakh more affordable than the Smart trim, which sits above the Shine. Also, the entry-level pricing for the diesel and petrol-auto powertrains have dropped with the introduction of this variant.
This being an one-above-base model, it’s obvious that you can’t expect all the creature comforts here. But as a package, we do have to admit that this trim is still very well equipped.
Highlights include LED headlamps and tail lamps, 17-inch monotone alloys, analogue dials with multi-info display, a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a single-pane sunroof, automatic climate control and keyless entry with push button start (auto only).
On the safety front, this trim packs dual airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, rear parking camera with sensors and hill hold assist. Do note that for niceties such as larger touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof and six airbags, you have to step up in the variant range.

Another good thing about this trim is that it’s available with all the powertrain options offered with the Hector. The midsize SUV gets a choice of either a 143PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol or a Fiat-sourced 170PS 2-litre diesel engine. A 6-speed manual is standard while the petrol engine can be picked with an optional CVT as well.
The MG Hector’s prices range between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 22.12 lakh (ex-showroom). It rivals models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV700 and Jeep Compass.
