A few months ago, we covered the launch of a swanky looking electric scooter from China, the Horwin SK3. And while Horwin absolutely nailed the design aspect of the scooter, the 80km range was not what people expected. Well, the manufacturer seems to have addressed that in the new 2022 SK3. Horwin now claims that this new iteration of the SK3 can do up to 160 km on a single charge, and that’s not all: there’s also an option to pair a second battery pack to extend the range up to a whopping 300km!
Unlike many contemporary EVs, the Horwin SK3 gets a sleek futuristic design similar to its predecessor, the only difference being a new wind deflector on the front fascia of the scooter. The scooter continues to get a twin LED headlight cluster which definitely gives us a similar impression as the BMW C400 GT. Also, the spine running through the floorboard is now as tall and prominent as modern maxi-scooters.
While the main update of the 2022 model is the mind-boggling range, the scooter also comes equipped with a plethora of features such as a full TFT speedometer panel embedded with smartphone connectivity feature. Other features also include cruise control, smartkey lock system and combination braking system. While the underseat storage can store daily necessities, adding the second battery does reduce the storage space.
The scooter weighs 115 kg and powering it is a 3.1kW motor, pumping out a peak power of 6.2kW, paired to 72V 36Ah lithium-ion battery. Top speed of this scooter has been limited to 90 kmph, in order to optimise battery power. To deliver a comfortable ride, the scooter is equipped with a telescopic fork and dual rear shock absorbers, coupled with 14-inch alloys. As for the price of the scooter, the SK3 is sold in Europe with a starting price of 4500 Euros, which is roughly around Rs 3.63 lakh.
So while this scooter will not find its way to our shores, here are the many EV bikes and scooters that you can check out.
