Lo and behold, there’s one more electric brand joining the fray in 2021. It is called Prevail Electric, and it commences its stint with three offerings: Wolfury, Finesse and Elite. The e-scooters are priced at Rs 89,999, Rs 99,999, and Rs 1,29,999, respectively.
The Wolfury is clearly meant to be the youthful, energetic option of the trio, thanks to its Italjet Dragster-inspired looks. The exposed frame, lack of usable storage space, and its motorcycle-esque stance are quite like the Dragster. Sadly, it is the slowest of the lot, with its top speed limited to 50kmph.
The Finesse and Elite are the more traditional choices. Both use almost the same chassis and mechanical elements as the Wolfury. But they differ from their aggressively styled smaller sibling in practicality and performance. The Elite looks eerily similar to the TVS iQube Electric, which has just been launched in Pune. The Finesse has a top speed of 60kmph, while the Elite is restricted to 80kmph.
While all three scooters have a claimed range of 110km, the Elite’s swappable battery technology should help to curb your range anxiety considerably. A full battery charge for all three scooters takes around four hours via a regular charger. There’s no fast charging option available, though.
Will these scooters prevail in India? Given that the Indian two-wheeler space is gearing up for mass electrification, such products might just be a bit too pricey compared to offerings from established players like Ather and TVS.
