Skoda has reintroduced the third-generation Superb in India, priced at a whopping Rs 54 lakh (ex-showroom). That’s a staggering Rs 17 lakh over the model that was discontinued earlier. That’s because this one you see here comes to India as a fully imported unit in a single Laurin & Klement (L&K) trim and is limited to a batch of just 100 units.
The premium sedan was discontinued back in April 2023 as it didn’t comply with BS6 Phase 2 norms, and has now made a comeback. Here's everything you need to know about it.
The Superb maintains the familiar design language seen previously with the discontinued model but now gets two new shades – Rosso Brunello and Water World Green – sold alongside the Magic Black hue. You also get a new set of multi-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels that give it a breath of fresh air.
There are not much changes in the interior design layout of the current Superb except for the new tan brown cabin theme. That said, the features set has been upgraded as you now get a larger 9.2-inch infotainment system. Additionally, it now comes with a new Power-Nap package in the rear seats for added comfort, and the driver's seat now features a massage function.
Notably, the current Superb does not get the panoramic sunroof offered with one that was discontinued earlier.
Feature offered on the Superb include a 9.2-inch infotainment system with wired Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto, a 10.2-inch digital driver’s display, 12-way electrically adjustable front seats with memory, massage function for the driver seat, a 12-speaker Canton sound system, 3-zone climate control, connected car tech, 12 V power sockets, and keyless entry with push-button start/stop.
Safety features include 9 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill hold control, brake assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a 360-degree camera system, and ISOFIX child seat mounts. Sadly, ADAS isn’t on offer, considering that it’s sold at this price point.
Underneath the hood, the Skoda Superb is powered by a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine, delivering 190 PS/ 320 Nm, now compliant with BS6 Phase 2 regulations. It is available only with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission and drives the front wheels.
What is significant is that the Superb now gets Dynamic Chassis Control, which changes the stiffness of the dampers based on your preference. So in comfort it will soften it up for a comfy ride, and in Sport, it will stiffen it up for tighter body control.
The Superb continues to rival with the Toyota Camry in India, which too has received a generational update globally.
