It’s raining special editions from Tata Motors as the Indian marque has launched the Nexon Red Dark Edition. This trim is very similar to the Harrier and Safari Red Dark (which have also been launched today) displayed at Auto Expo 2023, getting a nice decked up sporty looking suit. Like previous Tata editions, this is limited to the XZ+ Lux S variant and gets all the powertrain options.
You can take a look at the variant-wise prices here:

The Nexon Red Dark commands a premium of Rs 25,000 over the concurrent standard option. Plus, the all-black Dark Edition has been retained and over it, you need to shell Rs 5,000 for Red Dark.
Obviously, the extra you’re paying for this edition is its fancy set of clothes. The subcompact SUV is primarily finished in Obero Black, giving it a nice stealthy look. And the splashes of Zircon Red on the callipers, grille and bumpers add a splash of contrast, while looking sporty. Lastly, there is a new ‘Red Dark’ badge on the fenders to remind you which variant is this Nexon.
While the splashes of red are subtle on the outside, it’s more outspoken on the inside. It gets the same Steel Black dashboard, like before, but the seats are now finished in Carnelian Red, which can be found on the steering wheel and central console as well. Looks striking or loud? Let us know in the comments below.
Since this edition is based on the higher-end variants, it gets all the features found in the top-spec Nexon. That includes a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a sunroof, ventilated front seats, connected car tech, and a wireless phone charger. Passenger safety is taken care of by dual airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors, and electronic stability control.

No changes have been made to the mechanicals. So the Nexon continues with its 120PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 110PS 1.5-litre diesel engines, teamed with either a 6-speed manual and AMTs. Both the engines have been upgraded to meet the more stringent RDE emission norms.
Meanwhile, Tata has already begun work on the heavily revised Nexon, which is expected to break cover in 2024. The subcompact SUV goes up against the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300 and the like.
