Toyota India has launched the Hilux pickup truck at Rs 33.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s a diesel-only offering and comes in two trims: Standard and High. The pickup has started reaching dealerships, and test drives are expected to begin soon. That said, bookings have been halted at the moment due to supply chain issues.
Take a look at the variant-wise prices:
Hilux Trims |
Ex-showroom Price |
Standard MT |
Rs 33.99 lakh |
High MT |
Rs 35.8 lakh |
High AT |
Rs 36.8 lakh |
Pickup trucks are always desirable vehicles to look at for many, and the Hilux is no different. The large Toyota grille, squarish LED headlights, and the rugged bumper commands your attention, especially when looking at your ORVM. In profile, the Hilux rolls on the 18-inch alloy wheels from the Fortuner, while a set of LED tail lights with ‘B’ motif round off the design.
Inside, parts like the instrument console, touchscreen infotainment system, gear lever, and climate control knobs are shared with the Innova Crysta and Fortuner. And when it comes to the design and layout, all controls seem to be positioned where you want them.

In terms of features, the Hilux gets all bases covered with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, electrically-adjustable driver’s seat, keyless entry with push button start, cruise control, and leather upholstery. Toyota will also offer a host of accessories, and you can look at them here.
Passenger sfery is solid as the pick up gets seven airbags (standard), ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and front and rear parking sensors.
The Hilux has a lot of muscle too. It gets the Fortuner’s 204PS 2.8-litre diesel engine, paired with either a 6-speed manual or optional 6-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive with a low range gearbox is standard. So for serious off-roading, you can shift the car to 4LOW and use the torque to crawl up steep slopes or get out of mucky situations.
Other off-road based features include hill descent control, active traction control (brakes are applied to the wheel which spins), and electronic differential lock along with limited slip differential. It boasts an approach angle of 29 degrees and departure angle of 26 degrees.
At this price point, the Hilux doesn't have any direct competition to fend off. That said, you can consider the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross if you want a more affordable pickup truck with lesser power and similar creature comforts.
