Last month Trinity, a Germany-based EV maker, launched an updated version of the Uranus RS back in Germany. Carrying the celestial theme forward, they’ve now launched the Jupiter S, a successor to the Jupiter. Trinity claims to have made it not only more practical but also suitable for the occasional highway ride.
The 2022 iteration of the Jupiter S has gone on a serious keto diet, shaving a colossal 36kg off its total weight. Adding to the practicality is an all-LED lighting system and an instrument console with auto-brightness. That said, it gets no kind of connectivity whatsoever, which is a letdown in this day and age.
It is powered by a brushless DC hub motor and its lithium-ion 72V battery can be charged in 6 hours. Trinity claims that the Jupiter S has a range of 200km, a peak power of 16kW along with a top speed of 120km/h means that you could take it the long haul as well, at least on paper.
The Jupiter S offers you three riding modes to choose from: Eco, Normal and Power. While the Eco mode is designed for maximum range, Normal mode activates the standard settings, restricting the top speed to 105kmph. The Power mode on the other hand removes all the restrictions, letting you take the Jupiter S to its claimed top speed of 120kmph.
Disc brakes take care of braking duties at both ends while the electric maxi-scooter is suspended on hydraulic shock absorbers and rolls on 130/60-13 tires. Weighing 165kg (including the battery) the scooter is on the heavier side, in line with its maxi-style demeanour..
The Trinity Jupiter S is offered in three colours: Metallic Grey, Red and Matte Black. The pricing starts at 6,993 Euros (about Rs 5,62,467) for Metallic Grey and goes all the way up to 7,597 Euros (about Rs 6,12,415) for the Red variant. That said, it’s unlikely to make its way to Indian shores. If an electric scooter is what you’re looking for, you could have a look at the likes of the Ather 450X, Ola S1, TVS iQube Electric and the Bajaj Chetak.
