Honda Japan has updated the CBR250RR with a new colour for 2022 at no extra cost
  • The motorcycle comes in four colour schemes, including one with a race-inspired livery.
  • Mechanicals and features remain unchanged.
  • Price has also remained the same as before, starting from JPY 821,700 (around Rs 5.44 lakh).
  • Honda Japan has updated its popular quarter-litre supersport, the CBR250RR with new colours in Japan for 2022. The 2022 iteration of the bike now gets a new Graphite Black colour scheme which looks a lot stealthier than the black with red highlights on the previous model. Prices for the 2022 CBR250RR stay unchanged, though, with base colours retailing at JPY 821,700 (about Rs 5.44 lakh), and the Grand Prix Red colour version costing JPY 854,700 (around Rs 5.66 lakh), both suggested retail price, including consumption tax.

Other updated colours include Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic with gold-finished wheels and red highlights on the bodywork, Pearl Glare White variant with red highlights and gold-finished wheels, and the range-topping Grand Prix Red featuring a special red, white and blue race-inspired livery with gold-finished wheels.

The 2022 model will be available from January 20, 2022, and the company plans to sell 3,500 units in the year. Other than the colours, the 2022 CBR250RR remains unchanged in terms of mechanicals and features. The last time it received a major update was in 2020, when Honda slightly increased the output figures of the bike, added a slip-and-assist clutch, and also threw in new colour schemes.

The CBR250RR’s 249cc parallel-twin heart makes a whopping 41PS at 13,000rpm and 25Nm at 11,000rpm. It works in conjunction with a 6-speed transmission with optional bidirectional quickshifter. Other notable features include ride-by-wire with three riding modes: Comfort, Sport and Sport+, all-LED lighting system, full-LCD multifunction instrument cluster with lap timer, and dual-channel ABS.

The Honda CBR250RR goes up against the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R, which gets an even more manic four-cylinder quarter-litre engine. Honda will not be bringing in the CBR250RR to India as it will be way too expensive for its segment, but expect the Japanese bike maker to launch the Honda CBR500R sometime next year.
