The month of May wasn’t its usual self thanks to relatively cooler temperatures, storm warnings, and alarming COVID-19 cases. And the same thing can be said for May’s SIAM two-wheeler sales report which saw an alarming decline in numbers, especially in the more premium segment that starts Rs 2 lakh. Take a look at the highest selling bikes between Rs 2 lakh and 3 lakh in May 2021:

Top honours are once again taken by Royal Enfield, which has three of its most globally lauded offerings in this segment: the Himalayan, the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. However, the sales numbers are astonishingly low as none of these bikes managed to even breach the 500 sales units mark.
Next up is KTM. Waving the Austrian flag is the 250 Duke and the 250 Adventure, followed by the 390 Duke, RC 390 and the 390 Adventure. Surprisingly, all six of these bikes combined failed to record more than 300 units.
Tumbling down into the double digits is the Bajaj Dominar 400 with 62 units. This is the worst sales performance for Bajaj’s flagship bike since its debut. Although this is probably due to the pandemic, we think it’s time for Bajaj to spruce up the Dominar, which will hopefully promote sales.
