New Renault Kwid Revealed: 5 Things It Gets Over The Current Model Sold In India

The Kwid gets plenty of updates over the outgoing model, but the main addition is in the safety department

Renault-Kwid

The next-gen Renault Kwid has broken cover in the United Kingdom as the Dacia Spring EV. For the unknown, Dacia is Renault’s affordable sister brand and this new model previews the next-gen model for our shores. And apart from its evolutionary design, the new-gen Kwid gets plenty of new features that the model currently sold in India doesn’t get.

Here are five of them:

Digital Driver’s Display

One of the biggest convenience feature updates for the next-gen Kwid is the presence of a 7-inch digital driver’s display. It’s a coloured unit and is a massive update from the current model’s old school digitised unit.

Larger 10-inch Infotainment With Connected Car Tech

This one is more of an upgrade. Currently, the Kwid gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Internationally, the new model gets a larger 10-inch unit that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well as connected car tech.

Partial ADAS Suite

Probably one of the biggest updates in the Kwid is the presence of a partial ADAS suite to meet the UK’s safety standards. The suite includes features such as lane keeping assist, traffic sign recognition, and autonomous forward emergency braking. That said, we doubt this feature will be available in India, to keep costs in check.

Automatic Headlights

Another small – but useful – feature addition is the presence of automatic headlights. As its name suggests, the headlights come on automatically once the sensor detects the exterior ambient lighting is dim.

Type-C USB Chargers

To keep up with the times, Dacia has plonked in Type-C USB chargers in the new Spring EV. In the current India-spec model, you get a normal USB charger.

To know more about the new-gen Renault Kwid, head to our in-depth unveiling story. We expect the next-gen Kwid to break cover in India in 2025 as an ICE vehicle first, followed by the all-electric version. It will lock horns with the Maruti Suzuki Alto and S-Presso.
