Ever since April 2023, the Nissan Magnite was the sole model that was carrying the weight of the Japanese brand on its shoulders. However, soon things are going to change as Nissan India has announced four new models for the Indian market at the X-Trail unveiling event. These cars include an affordable EV, a compact 5-seater SUV, a midsize 7-seater SUV and the soon-to-be-launched Magnite facelift.
Here’s everything you need to know about Nissan’s upcoming cars:
The first of the four cars that will be introduced on our shores is the Magnite facelift. It has already been spotted testing multiple times and is expected to be introduced in the upcoming festive season.
The Magnite facelift will get tweaks to the exterior and interior as well as few feature additions to keep it relevant in the market. That being said, don’t expect any mechanical changes as it should continue with its existing 1-litre turbocharged and naturally aspirated petrol engine options.
Even since the discontinuation of the Terrano and Kicks, Nissan has been absent in the extremely popular compact SUV segment. However, the Japanese brand aims to make a splash there with a brand new model that is expected to be introduced in 2025.
Nissan even gave us a glimpse of the upcoming compact SUV, which gets full-width LED DRLs and a chunky bumper. It will be based on the CMF-B platform and will be heavily localised to ensure competitive pricing. Last but not least, expect this upcoming car to feature petrol engine options.
Nissan’s 5-seater compact SUV will also spawn a 7-seater version that will go against midsize SUVs such as the Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV700, MG Hector Plus and Tata Safari.

Once again, it will share its basics with the 5-seater model, meaning it will use the same CMF-B platform, have plenty of localisation and will come with petrol engines only. This model is expected to be introduced in 2025, post the introduction of the 5-seater SUV.
Last but not least, Nissan will be entering the electric vehicle space in India with a small and affordable electric car.
Now, details about this car are rather scarce at the moment. But we expect it to be a small electric hatchback, which will go up against the Tata Tiago and Citroen eC3. You can expect this model to be launched on our shores by March 2026.
Along with the soon-to-be-launched X-Trail, Nissan India’s lineup will expand from one to five models by March 2026. It must also be noted that the last three new Nissan cars mentioned in this report will have an equal Renault version in India. You can read more about this here in our report.
