Renault-Nissan Alliance India Pvt Ltd announced a couple of new SUVs for the Indian market earlier this year, hinting at the return of the Duster to the market. On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, they had organised a press conference at the manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu. That said, the carmakers are expected to launch more than one offering in the country next year and here we take a close up look at the list of their probable upcoming cars.
Expected to launch in mid-2025
Estimated price: Rs 10 lakh
The new-gen Duster is one of the most-anticipated SUVs from the French automaker with its India launch expected in mid-2025. It does not only get a fresh look inside and out but also boasts a range of new features, and updated powertrains. Speaking of which, there are a couple of petrol engine options available internationally – one with mild hybrid assistance and another with strong hybrid powertrain. India may get both the powertrain options.

Unveiled in October 2024, the Bigster is essentially a Duster but with an option of 7-seat layout. Not to mention the subtle changes in styling and features to give the Bigster its own identity. As mentioned earlier, Renault Nissan Alliance had teased two SUVs and one of them was a Nissan product. Since the all-new Renault Duster is likely making a comeback to India, it is likely that Nissan could bring the Terrano. The compact SUV may share some components with the Duster, including the powertrain. Notably, the Terrano is expected to make its India debut sometime in mid-2025, probably a couple months before or after the launch of the Renault Duster.
Expected to launch in mid-2025
Estimated price: Rs 13-19 lakh
Alongside the possible re-introduction of the new Terrano, there is potential for a 7-seat version of the SUV. This Terrano three-row model, which is likely to get a new name, could go on sale in mid-2025 or later next year. Like Renault Duster and Bigster, it will likely share its powertrain and other components with the Terrano. Upon launch, it will take on the Kia Carens, Mahindra XUV 700, Hyundai Alcazar, and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara 7-seater.
Expected to launch in October 2025
Estimated price: Rs 2 crore
The seventh-gen Nissan Patrol was unveiled a few months ago with a fresh look, upmarket interior, and a new powertrain. The Toyota Land Cruiser rival is expected to come to India next year in October 2025. It is expected that Nissan will likely launch it as a completely built unit (CBU) like the on-sale X-Trail. Under the bonnet, the SUV gets a choice of a 3.5-litre and a 3.8-litre V6 petrol engine paired with a four-wheel drive system. It is not clear which engine option Nissan will introduce in the country.
All in all, the new year’s calendar of Renault Nissan Alliance looks exciting and a little busy. While this was the list of the possible upcoming cars, Which one are you waiting for? Let us know in the comments below.
