2021 has been an absolutely eventful year both in the general sense and in the automotive industry. A steep rise in fuel prices along with the ongoing semiconductor shortage posed some challenges for the automotive industry. However, the four-wheeler market has managed to rise high with sales figures. But which ones were the best-sellers for these select carmakers between January and November 2021? Let’s find out:
#1 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R
Annual Sales: 1,64,123
Maruti Suzuki has once again turned out to be the top carmaker by recording the highest sales of over 1,64,123, with the Wagon R hatchback. Launched back in 2019, the third-gen Wagon R comes in three broad trims across two petrol powertrains, along with a CNG option.

#2 Hyundai Creta
Annual Sales: 1,17,828
The Creta has been a bread and butter model for Hyundai ever since its first generation rolled out in 2015. Now, the second-gen Creta has become the country’s second best-selling car for 2021. It is priced from around Rs 10.20 lakh and comes with three powertrain options, across six broad trims.

#3 Tata Nexon
Annual Sales: 95,678
The Nexon was the best-selling model in the Tata lineup with total annual sales of nearly a lakh. It has enjoyed more consistent monthly sales figures which has allowed it to climb up the ranks in its segment. The SUV received a facelift at the beginning of 2020 which packed BS6 compliant powertrains and the latest tech features along with a few cosmetic updates.
Currently, the Nexon is available in petrol, diesel, and electric powertrains, and comes with the latest tech features like rain-sensing wipers, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and cruise control. #4 Kia Seltos
Annual Sales: 94,175
Kia India's portfolio comprises only three models, out of which its compact SUV, the Seltos, has managed to make it to the best-selling list. The Seltos is priced from around Rs 10 lakh and comes with multiple petrol and diesel engine options across seven variants split between two broad trims: HT Line and GT Line.

#5 Mahindra Bolero
Annual Sales: 60,009
The Bolero is Mahindra’s best-selling model for 2021. Priced from around Rs 8.6 lakh the Bolero is Mahindra’s entry-level SUV. While the nameplate is more than a decade old, its sales figures show the SUV’s continued demand. With only a sole diesel engine option and a bare minimum feature list, the Bolero is for those looking for a no-nonsense and rugged SUV. And we did drive it the rugged way! However to make sure nobody’s left out the carmaker has also introduced a Bolero Neo for urban customers, which gets additional features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, and keyless entry.
#6 Toyota Innova Crysta
Annual Sales: 51,261
Toyota entry-level MPV, the Innova Crysta, was the carmaker's top-selling model in 2021. Priced from around Rs 17.20 lakh, the MPV is offered in both petrol and diesel engines.
The MPV gets a decent feature list with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, cruise control, up to seven airbags, and optional front parking sensors as well.
#7 Honda Amaze
Annual Sales: 36,398
The Amaze is Honda’s best-selling model in 2021 and is also the only sedan to be a part of this list. It got a mid-life refresh in August with a few design changes and updated features. The sub-4m sedan is priced from around Rs 6.40 lakh and can be had in petrol and diesel powertrain options.

#8 Renault Kwid
Annual Sales: 30,600
Renault’s entry-level offering, the Kwid has been the top-selling vehicle for the carmaker in 2021, with total sales of over 30,500. The entry-level hatchback is priced from around Rs 4.20 lakh and is a petrol-only offering. It gets a fairly attractive feature list with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and gets a rearview camera too.
#9 Skoda Kushaq
Annual Sales: 11,173
Skoda’s compact SUV, the Kushaq, was the carmaker's best-selling offering in 2021. Launched in June 2021, the SUV has already crossed sales of over 11,000. It is based on Skoda’s MQB-A0-IN platform and is a turbo-petrol only offering.
