In today's Covid-19 times, the need to maintain personal hygiene is paramount, more so when you're on the go. Couple this with the rising fuel prices, and electric two-wheelers are certainly among the more secure and cost-effective modes of commute.
This year, we saw multiple electric two-wheelers being launched in the country, and there are plenty more coming our way next year. For this report, we have compiled all of them, so let's begin:
Suzuki Burgman Electric
Expected Launch: April 2022
First spy shots of the Suzuki Burgman Electric surfaced in 2020, followed by more sightings this year, including that of an almost production-ready version. And this leads us to believe Suzuki will launch it early next year.
The EV will essentially be a commuter scooter, rivalling the Ola S1, TVS iQube Electric, and the Bajaj Chetak.
Hero Electric Scooter
Expected Launch: February 2022
Hero MotoCorp gave us a sneak peek of the upcoming electric scooter during its anniversary celebrations this year. Soon after, Hero trademarked six names, all starting with 'Vida', hinting that its EV sub-brand would be called the same. Now that the scooter looks ready for the streets, we expect Hero to launch it in February 2022.
From what we know, the Hero Electric scooter will be pretty basic, meant for city commutes. It could feature LED lights, removable batteries, and a digital instrument cluster.
Tork T6X
Expected Launch: February 2022
Next up is the Tork T6X electric bike, which was spotted recently after a long two-year hiatus.
Compared to its last sighting in 2019, the bike seems to have matured quite a bit, and it looks to be in the final stages of testing. Check out our story for exclusive spy shots of the Tork T6X.
Simple One
Deliveries: February 2022
Now, of course, the Simple One e-scooter was launched in August this year itself. But the company has yet to commence deliveries, and that’s why it has made this list.
And by the looks of it, the final product will be quite different -- in a good way -- from the scooter showcased during launch. The Simple One was recently spotted testing, and our sources reveal it’ll get improved performance and design.
Meanwhile, you can check out Simple One’s launch story for details on its specifications and pricing.
BGauss Electric Scooters
Expected Launch: February 2022
BGauss is planning to launch two new electric scooters in 2022. One of them could come in as early as February, while the other may arrive around April. And unlike BGauss’ current lineup, both will be eligible for FAME II subsidies, so expect a competitive price.
Additionally, BGauss has designed its own battery pack for the two scooters (cells will come from abroad), which essentially means the company can work on eking out maximum range from its products. More details are expected soon.
TVS Creon
Expected Unveil: Late 2022
TVS could introduce the Creon electric scooter in 2022 to cater to the performance EV segment. However, this would be just the unveiling, followed by its launch in mid-2023. Nevertheless, we’re excited to see how the bikemaker takes on this extremely competitive EV segment.
