Carlin’s Jehan Daruvala ended the sixth round of the 2021 FIA Formula 2 Championship with a strong third place finish in the feature race at Sochi. His teammate Dan Ticktum crossed the chequered flag in fifth position.
Starting second on the grid, Daruvala dropped a couple of positions at the end of the opening lap, but the Indian driver was keeping close tabs on the top three for the majority of the first stint.
After his mandatory pit stop, Daruvala had gained some pace in the final stint, and managed to pass Ralph Boschung for third position. After that it was a comfortable drive to the chequered flag to score a podium finish.
Considering Jehan Daruvala’s race pace in the final stint, he could’ve been on for a second place finish were it not for that poor start. Nonetheless, it was a good way to bounce back after the difficult sprint race from yesterday. This result keeps Daruvala seventh in the driver’s standings, and inching that little bit closer to the top five.
It’ll be a long break before Formula 2 will return to racing action for the final couple of rounds, starting at Jeddah Saudi Arabia for the seventh round of the season. It is scheduled to run from December 03-05.
