Carln’s Jehan Daruvala ended his final two sprint races of the 2021 FIA Formula 2 season on a positive note with a closely fought win and a seventh place finish. The Indian driver’s teammate Dan Ticktum managed sixth and fourth place finishes respectively.
Starting on reverse grid pole position for Sprint Race 1, the Indian driver took full advantage of this opportunity with a perfect launch off the line and controlling the race. Sure, Daruvala did manage to soak up incredible pressure by Felipe Drugovich in the fight for the win early on, but the Red Bull Junior driver built a comfortable lead towards the end to take his second win of the season.
With Formula 2’s top 10 reverse grid rules for the second sprint race, Daruvala lined up 10th on the grid. The Indian driver made a fantastic start in an already chaotic opening lap and was up to fifth at one point. But by the end of the race, Daruvala dropped to seventh place. Nonetheless, a solid haul of points.
There’s still one final feature race to finish out the season, with Daruvala starting in 10th position. The feature race will commence at 2:25pm (IST) and will be broadcast on EuroSport.
