Prema Racing’s Jehan Daruvala has begun the third round of the 2022 Formula 2 season on a low key note, qualifying eighth for the feature race at Imola. His teammate and fellow Red Bull junior driver Dennis Hauger managed to set the fifth quickest time on the grid.
The 30-minute qualifying session itself had wet weather adding to the challenge of the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari. Daruvala and Hauger’s initial runs were only good enough to qualify outside the top 10 due to the ever evolving track conditions. But in the final runs, both drivers improved, with Daruvala going eighth quickest.
While it's a bit of a scruffy start to the weekend for the Indian driver, he’ll be starting third for the sprint race as the grid is decided by the top 10 qualifiers lining up in reverse order in the 25-lap/122km race. For the 35-lap/171-km feature race, the qualifying results will set the grid.
The sprint race on Saturday will flag off at 9:20pm (IST). All races will be broadcast on Star Sports / Hotstar.
