Prema Racing’s Jehan Daruvala continued his consistent top five run in the fourth round of the 2022 F2 season, finishing fourth at the sprint race at Spain. The same couldn’t be said for the other side of the garage too, as his rookie teammate and fellow Red Bull junior driver, Dennis Hauger crossed the checkered flag in 12th position.
Starting seventh for the 26-lap/121km race a great start saw the Indian driver catapult into fifth position which included an opportune move on Theo Pourchaire into the Turn 11-12 section. Since the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is well known for being notoriously difficult to overtake, the majority of Jehan Daruvala’s race went relatively straightforward aside from a late-race pass on Jake Hughes to finish in fourth position at the checkered flag.
While just one place off the podium, this result further solidifies Daruvala’s third place in the drivers standings. But there’s still a 37-lap/172-km feature race left to run on Sunday. He’ll be starting fourth since Friday’s qualifying results decide the grid lineup.
The final race of the weekend will commence at 3pm (IST) and will be broadcast on Star Sports.
