The new Dzire outdoes the existing Amaze both in convenience and safety with a host of new features, two of which are also firsts for a sub-4m sedan.

The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire, with a heft of feature updates, now holds a strong position in its segment. Along with enhanced creature comforts and a segment-first sunroof, the Dzire has set a new benchmark as the safest sub-4m sedan. Its direct rival, the Honda Amaze, also comes equipped with several essential features and is up for a generational upgrade soon. But until it gets that we’ll see which boxes the new Dzire tick off extra if compared to the Amaze:

Larger 9-inch Infotainment

The new Maruti Dzire features a floating 9-inch touchscreen infotainment display, positioned centrally at the top of the dashboard. In comparison, the Honda Amaze still carries a 7-inch touchscreen.

Wireless Android Auto And Apple CarPlay

The Dzire’s infotainment is wirelessly supportive of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Amaze’s infotainment still does it with the help of a cable. The same should be up for an upgrade with the upcoming new-gen Amaze.

A Sunroof

The Dzire boasts of debuting a single-pane sunroof in its segment and it's a feature that has gained popularity in recent years. Honda might want to bring it in the update too, to keep up with the potential rivalry. It helps the cabin get more light and as a result, make it feel more airy. And no, it’s not for you to stick your head out of while the car is in motion.

Wireless Phone Charger

The new Dzire has a wireless phone charger in the front centre console and it further reduces the amount of wires in the centre console. Sadly again, the Amaze scores a miss here.

Six Speakers

The existing Amaze is equipped with four speakers for the passengers’ music needs, while the new Dzire steps it up with two added speakers in its cabin. It might not be an outright premium experience, but is more than enough for all your pop and even some hip hop tunes.

Rear AC Vents

The Dzire’s cabin now includes rear AC vents for passenger comfort, a feature missing in the Amaze. We expect the upcoming Amaze to add this feature in its list.

360-degree Camera

The sunroof isn’t the only feature to debut in the sub-4m sedan space with the new Dzire. It now gets a 360-degree camera for added safety and convenience while parking the car. In contrast, the Amaze just gets a rear-view camera only.

Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

The new Dzire comes equipped with a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), allowing drivers to keep an eye on tyre pressures for added safety. This feature is currently absent in the Amaze.

Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

Electronic stability control (ESC) is a very basic active electronic safety feature to have these days and the new Dzire does get it, which helps prevent skidding during sudden maneuvers, especially on low grip tarmacs. Unfortunately, this feature is not available in the Amaze.

Connected Car Tech

The Dzire also introduces connected car technology in its list, allowing owners to remotely access certain features and vehicle status through a smartphone app. The Amaze, however, does not include this advanced connectivity feature.

BONUS

The new Dzire raises the bar for safety by offering six airbags as standard across all its variants. In contrast, the Amaze gets dual airbags as standard, making the Dzire a more appealing choice for safety-conscious buyers at all trim levels. That said, the Dzire also boasts a full five-star GNCAP safety rating now and the Amaze has a lot to do to match up to the same.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire Price And Rivals

The new-gen Dzire is offered in four different variants: Lxi, Vxi, Zxi and Zxi+. Introductory prices for the sedan range from Rs 6.79 lakh to Rs 10.14 lakh. It continues to pose competition to its existing rivals, the Honda Amaze, Tata Tigor and Hyundai Aura and some premium hatchbacks like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza and Hyundai i20 alike.

Honda has already teased the 2025 Amaze and we’ll be waiting to see how the Japanese carmaker answers to the challenges thrown by the new Dzire. Who do you think will stay ahead in this close fight? Let us know in the comments.
