A Delhi RTO document suggests that Mahindra could provide all four trims of the XUV300 with the upcoming 130PS turbo-petrol engine. This mill debuted at Auto Expo 2020 and was supposed to be limited to an exclusive ‘Sportz’ trim showcased at the motor show. However, it seems like Mahindra could offer it as standard now.
The new 1.2-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine puts out class-leading 130PS and 230Nm, 20PS and 30Nm more than the current unit. This will be paired with a 6-speed manual initially, with an AMT likely to be offered later. The carmaker could also offer the standard 110PS 1.2-litre petrol engine alongside this motor.
It remains to be seen if the XUV300 Sportz will see the light of the day. As the name suggests, the trim featured body decals and red accents inside and outside. The cabin was also finished in black to accentuate the sportier look. Take a look at the Sportz trim here.

We don’t know yet the launch timeline of the 130PS Mahindra XUV300 turbo-petrol, but these homologations hint at an imminent introduction. The SUV will command a slight premium over the existing petrol variants, which are priced between Rs 7.96 lakh and Rs 11.71 lakh (ex-showroom).
The XUV300 will lock horns with the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, and Nissan Magnite.
