2014 Volkswagen Vento 1.5 launched

Subsequent to the launch of the facelifted Polo, Volkswagen has launched the 2014 Vento with a 1.5-litre diesel mill. In the C-segment sedan, the engine makes 105PS of power and 250Nm of torque, same as the Polo GT TDI model on sale. The outgoing model too shared its engine with the pre-facelift GT TDI. The new Vento will be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission as well as a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Although Volkswagen had the petrol powered Vento TSI with the same 7-speed DSG option, there was no diesel automatic offering from their stable. In fact, the Hyundai Verna Diesel was the only sedan available with an automatic transmission. Along with the 1.5-litre diesel engine, the Vento will continue to be sold with the 1.6-litre MPI that is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox as well as the 1.2-litre TSI engine mated to a 7-speed DSG.

Like the new Polo 1.5, the Vento too has been given minor cosmetic changes on the outside as well as on the inside. The 2014 Volkswagen Vento gets a refreshed front and rear bumpers, reworked headlights and new alloy wheels. On the inside, the dashboard is similarly placed like the outgoing model but the new Vento gets a flat-bottomed steering wheel. Talking about safety, all the variants get dual front airbags and ABS is standard on all variants except the base variant. The Volkswagen Vento 1.5 has been launched at a starting price of Rs 8.57 for the base Trendline variant (ex-showroom Mumbai).
