Refreshed Vento has been spotted testing, due for launch soon

Volkswagen is readying an update for the Vento. A camouflaged test mule was spied testing in what seems like a cosmetic update in line with the 2014 Volkswagen Polo that was launched recently. While a launched is expected this month, no official news is out. The 2014 Volkswagen Vento will take on the soon to be launched Maruti Ciaz, Honda City and Hyundai Verna in the C-segment.

While little can be seen about the update the Vento will carry from this heavily taped test car, we can see that the double barrel headlights as seen on the Polo will make it to the Vento. The bumper is all new as well and the grille most likely will sport two slats. The alloy wheels are same as the Polo too but we expect new designs for the Vento. On the new inside, the Vento should carry the new steering wheel and will have a bit more space too. Volkswagen will want to spruce up the cabin a lot more with the facelift in light of fresh competition pulling out all stops in terms of features. The rear will get a new bumper and possibly a tweaked tail lamp cluster. Unlike the Polo, an engine update isn’t expected though. Volkswagen has a good set of petrol and diesel engines and will also have the 1.2 TSI petrol variant with the update.

The Vento isn’t selling well at the moment dropping under the 1000 units mark per month. With the Ciaz launch next month, it’s going to get tougher for Volkswagen as the Ciaz is expected to eat into sales of other cars in its segment. A facelift is coming at the right time if the Vento has to have a fighting chance in this segment.
