The Chevrolet Cruze has been with us for a few years now and has recently gone through a minor facelift. The Cruze did make quite a splash with muscular styling, a powerful diesel engine and an interior that looked light years ahead of everything else in its category. The new Chevrolet Cruze is stated to be revealed next month at auto China 2014 in Beijing and has been made keeping countries like India and China in mind.
The new Chevrolet Cruze looks much sharper and more aggressive than the current version and uses many styling cues from the larger Chevrolet Malibu sedan, which is available in the United States. The new Cruze features a larger and more pronounced split grille and a more swept back look as compared to the older car. The headlights do look a tad bit like the new Renault Fluence and Kia Optima while the tail lights tend to remind us of the Honda City in way their basic form and shape is.
The interior on the new Cruze looks like an evolution of the current car. However, unlike the predominantly grey and black interior of the current car, the new Cruze features a generous helping of beige and brown leather making the Cruze look even more upmarket than it is. Expect the new Chevrolet Cruze to have an extremely comfortable and spacious rear seat and a large boot if it intends to go up against rivals like the Skoda Octavia and the upcoming Toyota Corolla.
The new Chevrolet Cruze will be available with a 2.0-litre diesel engine that will make upwards of 170PS of power and about 400Nm of torque. Expect the diesel engine to be mated to both a manual and an automatic gearbox and be available in three to four variants. Although the new Chevrolet Cruze is not expected to make an appearance in India till mid-2015, Chevrolet may very well get the Cruze in early to combat the likes of the Corolla and the rumoured Honda Civic. Expect the current generation Chevrolet Cruze to be priced lower and kept on as a parallel model complimenting the new 2015 Chevrolet Cruze which could be priced between Rs 14-16 lakh.
