At the World Ducati Week 2014 that was held at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, the Italian two-wheeler manufacturer unveiled the 2015 Hypermotard SP. The new offering was unveiled by former World Superbike Champions Troy Bayliss and Carlos Checa. The 2015 Hypermotard SP will be offered in a sportier colour combination of red and white as seen on the Ducati Corse range. The bike also features three-spoke forged aluminium wheels to keep the weight low and it tips the scale at 171kg. Other goodies on the Ducati Hypermotard SP include variable-section handlebars, front mudguard and engine covers crafted from carbon fibre, front radial pump with adjustable 5-position lever and optional height adjustable seats.
Powering the Ducati Hypermotard SP is the same 821cc motor as seen on the standard bike nestled inside the iconic tubular trellis frame. The 11-degree Testastretta mill churns out 111PS at 9,250rpm and torque figure stands at 89Nm at 7,500rpm. The powerplant adopts the same multi-map architecture as found on the Panigale S with three riding modes – Race, Sport and Wet. Power is transmitted to the rear-wheel by a six-speed gearbox. The Ducati Safety Pack (DSP) is standard on the 2015 Ducati Hypermotard SP that features a three-level ABS and an eight-level Ducati Traction Control.
Suspension travel on the Hypermotard SP has been hiked that enables the rider to achieve better lean angles and to improve the supermoto’s performance. Suspension duties are handled by Marzocchi sourced beefy 50mm upside-down forks at front and fully adjustable Ohlins monoshock at rear. Stopping power is provided by twin 320 mm semi-floating discs at front and 245 mm disc at the back. The bike runs on Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tyres 120/70 x R17 at front and 180/55 x R17 at rear. The 2015 Hypermotard SP with Corse colour option will be available on sale from September, 2014 onwards with a price tag of Rs 9 lakhs in the European market.
