Mahindra is all set to give its popular off-roader a fresh start. After spotting test mules earlier this year of an updated Thar with new interior and exterior updates, the Company has confirmed that a Fresh new Thar will hit the market on July 22.
Exterior updates include a plastic-metal front bumper, larger foot rests and wider fenders. The most prominent update however will be the soft roof canopy, now tilted frontwards. The few updates do help spruce up the rugged Offroader’s image.
The interior will also be a lot more welcoming now. The dashboard gets two tones, the rounded AC vents get silver accents, and the instrument cluster is new with three chrome ringed units. Mahindra has plonked the steering wheel, AC controls and handbrake from the Bolero. The new Thar will also boast of new, wider and more comfortable seats.
There will be no mechanical update however. The Thar is expected to come equipped with its existing range of engine options which include a 2.5-litre DI unit that delivers 63PS of power and 182.5Nm of torque, and a 2.5-litre CRDe engine that churns out 105PS of power and 247Nm of torque. The Mahindra Thar currently retails between Rs 5.04 lakh and Rs 7.74 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). We also expect the Thar to soon come with a CRDe 4x2 version which appeals more to the city slicker as compared to the off-roader.
