Skoda has finally taken the wraps off its highly awaited 2015 Skoda Fabia hatchback. Based on the VisionC concept showcased at the Geneva Motor show last year, the new Skoda is both wider and lower than the outgoing model giving it a very muscular look. The new family face that we have seen in the likes of the new Octavia also makes its way to the Fabia giving it an edgier and more refined look than ever before.
The new Fabia is based on the same platform that the new Volkswagen Polo is based on and will feature similar underpinnings. The new 1.5-litre, four cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine making 90 or 105PS will power the Fabia. A 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol making 75PS will also be available. There is also a possibility of Volkswagen TSi engine with 105PS making its way to the Fabia. The new fabia will also be quicker than the outgoing car considering a drop of about 65kg over the older model.
Skoda’s motorsport division has also apparently added its inputs in the development of the new Skoda in the final design and mechanical stages. Skoda is also said to offer an all new interior with a few select customization options for individuals. The new Skoda Fabia will also feature new features like integrated daytime running lights, a distinct shoulder line that offers a muscular stance and a set of stubby LED equipped tail lamps that pay homage to the very first Fabia launched way back in 1999.
