Skoda’s new flagship is garnering a lot of attention even before the new car is revealed and that is mostly due to the teasing teaser campaign Skoda’s press office is running. After revealing pictures of a camouflaged Superb in its final stages of testing, Skoda sent out a few teasers showing the silhouette of the car. Now there’s a new Sketch showing the rear three quarters of the car.
The sketch though is more concept than production. It shows where the Superb comes from and going by the lines with the swooping rear end edged out from the shoulder lines, the 2015 Superb will have one attractive derriere if the production car sports the same lines. The sketch shows a cohesive design language and Skoda seems to have got the proportions right this time. While we will get to know more about the new Superb in the coming weeks, what we do know is it is based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform.
The Superb will follow the same design cues seen on the new Fabia and Octavia, so you will get a sharp front end with the new grille, creases on the bonnet and rectangular headlights with LED daytime running lights.
The Skoda Superb will be offered with a familiar set of TSI and TDI engines. There is no news on the output and capacities of these engines yet but expect them to better the current generation engines in the Superb. The new Superb will be priced between Rs 20-25 lakh and will be launched in India sometime in the second half of 2015.
