Action for the third round of the Volkswagen Vento Cup shifted from the windy Kari Motor Speedway to the world renowned Buddha International Circuit in Noida. There was drama on the opening lap of the Race 1 as an incident right at the beginning and forced a restart. Despite the setback, pole sitter Anindith Reddy maintained his cool as he maintained his pole advantage going into the first corner of the race. He maintained the race lead throughout the complete race distance although he was coming under pressure from Ishaan Dodhiwala. The Hyderabad duo were involved in a race long duel but it was Reddy who emerged victorious and was joined by the championship leader Karminder Pal Singh on the final step of the podium.
Speaking about his victory, Anindith Reddy said: “I am happy to start the weekend with a pole position followed by a win. Ishaan kept putting pressure from the back and I had him always in my mirror. I had to make sure that I was driving with full concentration and didn’t make any mistake to let him pass me.”
Sunday started off on a great note for local racer Karminder Singh has he won the Race 2 of Round 3 of the inaugural Volkswagen Vento Cup. It was a hard fought win for Singh as he had started the race from sixth place but was relentless in his pursuit of the leading drivers and grabbed the race lead within the first two laps. Clinching the second spot on the podium for the consecutive time was Hyderabad’s Ishaan Dodhiwala. While Prabhanj Paruchuri registered his first podium finish of his career and was visibly delighted.
The final race of the day was an action packed affair to the delight of the hordes of motorsport fans that had come down at BIC. An incident on the second lap of the race meant that the safety car had to venture out and it meant Anindith Reddy had to again defend his pole advantage from his rival Ishaan Dodhiwala. Similar to first race it was Reddy who won the third race of Round 3 while at the back Karminder Pal Singh, and Sailesh Bolisetti were involved an intriguing battle for third place.
Speaking about his dual wins, Anindith Reddy said: “This has been a great round for me. Two victories are more than what I had expected before coming here. The competition is tight and I had to push it really hard to stay ahead. From here onwards, I have to carry on my form to the last round of the championship.”
Although Singh crossed the finish line in third position, he was later penalised for running off the track. After two victories over the weekend, Anindith underlines his favourite role for the championship crown alongside his two strongest competitors – Karminder Pal Singh and Ishaan Dodhiwala. This means the championship will be decided on the final round of the 2015 Volkswagen Vento Cup scheduled on November 27th to 29th.
