The Volkswagen Vento has been in the market for a few years now and has been well established as a credible competitor to the likes of the segment leading Honda City and the likes of the Hyundai Verna. Volkswagen recently launched a mildly facelifted version of the Vento that did not really bring much to the table. Now though, pictures from Russia, another country where the Vento is sold as the Polo Sedan have emerged that incorporate more updates.
The new Vento for starters will have a slightly larger front radiator grille that will help differentiate it from the current version. The triple slat grille will come with chrome accent strips and of course, a large centrally mounted Volkswagen badge. The new grille also flows seamlessly into the new twin barrel headlamps that have been blackened for a sportier look. That said, there is no LED-daytime running light setup or projector headlamp like those available on the other European-spec Polos. Also expect a new alloy wheel design and a possible upgrade to a 16-inch wheel size in the upcoming Vento. Around the back, the chrome garnish treatment continues with a horizontal strip running across the lower half of the bumper ending neatly in a chrome exhaust tip.
On the interior front, the new Volkswagen Vento in India will finally lose the older infotainment system for a more modern touchscreen version. The new infotainment system will also have Bluetooth, USB and AUX input slots. There is also a possibility of an in-dash navigation unit to be made available in the new Vento’s infotainment system unlike the separate windscreen mounted ones that were available earlier. Also expect new upholstery colours and fabrics to make an appearance in the new 2015 Volkswagen Vento in India.
On the mechanical front, the Vento will mostly remain unchanged with the two 1.6-litre naturally aspirated and 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engines being accompanied by a 1.5-litre turbo diesel motor. The Vento will also be available with both manual and automatic gearboxes thus catering to a wider range of audiences. Expect the new 2015 Volkswagen Vento to make its way to India in the next few months with prices ranging from 7.5-11.5 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new 2015 Vento will go up against the likes of the Honda City, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, the Hyundai Verna, the Nissan Sunny and the Skoda Rapid amongst others.
