Mahindra Mojo rear profile
After years of rigorious testing, the long-in-the-making Mahindra Mojo finally came to showrooms this year. Bikers across the country who have been eagerly awaiting for a home-grown mid-capacity motorcycle that can take on the best of the Japanese and Europeans heaved a sigh of relief and promptly lined up to catch a glimpse of the Mojo and signed up for test rides. And now, you, dear readers, have awarded the Mojo the Reader’s Choice Bike of the Year award.

Powered by a 295cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine fed through an electronic fuel-injection system, the Mojo produces 27PS at 8,000rpm and 30Nm at 6,000rpm. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a six-speed transmission. The Mojo had been loaded with goodies in its cycle parts like USD front forks, gas charged mono shock, LED pilot lamps and tail lamps, Pirelli Diablo Rosso Tyres and petal discs.

Mahindra is marketing the Mojo as a touring motorcycle, and it comes with the requisite goodies to match it: a fuel tank capacity of 21 litres and 175mm ground clearance. That gives it a considerable mileage, allowing it to ride on for almost 560 kilometres theoretically before needing a tank-up of fuel. Braking is done by disc brakes at front and rear, although ABS is sadly missing.

So here you have it, your very own award, chosen by you: The Mahindra Mojo is the winner of the Reader’s Choice Bike of the Year at the 2015 Times Auto Awards in partnership with ZigWheels.
