Chevrolet have two big unveils at the upcoming 2016 Indian Auto Expo. With two different body styles, the new Chevrolet Cruze and the long awaited Chevrolet Adra compact SUV (global unveil) will attract both eyeballs and a lot of attention from the public in general too.
The new Cruze for starters is expected to be priced between Rs 12-18 lakh and get an all new look both on the exterior and interior front. The new 2015 Chevrolet Cruze looks much sharper and more aggressive than the current version. It features a much more swept back design as opposed to the boxy sharp design that we are used to seeing on the current generation. That said, where the current car has a sense of uniqueness, the new one seems to have amalgamated styling features from a host of different cars that we are privy to in India.
The Chevrolet Cruze in India will be powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine which should make upwards of 165PS of peak power. The car will also have a new petrol engine which will be a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder engine making 115PS of peak power. Both engines will get a manual and an automatic gearbox.
Chevrolet will also have the much awaited global unveil of the Adra compact SUV in India. This new compact SUV will go up against rivals like the Ford Ecosport and Mahindra TUV300 along with the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Expect the Adra to get a well styled and slightly futuristic looking exterior with design elements from popular Chevrolet models like the Beat making an appearance here. The split Chevrolet grille with the large logo will also be incorporated into the Adra.
On the engines front, the Adra will get both petrol and diesel motors. The diesel will be the hot selling model and will get the 1.3-litre multijet engine that has been sourced from Fiat and is the same engine that the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire gets. The new Adra will also have a funky interior. Expect prices to be around the Rs 5-7 lakh mark.
