Hero MotoCorp appears all set to update its entire fleet of commuter motorcycles with its patented i3S technology. First introduced with the Splendor iSmart, the fuel-saving feature followed in the Splendor iSmart 110, Achiever 150, Glamour, Passion Pro i3S, and now, the company has introduced its 2017 Super Splendor and the HF-Deluxe i3S with the same technology. Both the bikes also get fresh new graphics and always headlamp on feature for enhanced safety. The price of the new Super Splendor starts at Rs 55,275 (ex-showroom, Delhi) while that of the HF-Deluxe i3S is yet to be announced.
Apart from the new graphics and features, there is no news of any more mechanical updates for the new bikes yet. The company hasn't even reported whether any or both the bikes are compatible with the BS-IV emission standards or not. For those who don't know, i3S is an engine "idle stop-start system" that helps to save fuel consumption, especially while riding through the city traffic conditions. The technology turns off your engine when it finds it running on idle for around five seconds and it can be turned on again just by pulling the clutch lever. Moreover, the system is switchable so one can turn it off if required.
As per the website, the Hero HF-Deluxe i3S is powered by the same 97.2cc, air-cooled motor that is doing duty on the other HF series models as well. The engine continues to deliver 8.36PS of power and a peak torque of 8.05Nm and comes mated to a four-speed transmission. The bike comes with all the basic features of a commuter along with alloy wheels, maintenance-free battery and a convenient electric start.
The 2017 Hero Super Splendor also shares the 124.7cc, horizontal cylinder engine with its predecessor instead of getting a new vertical cylinder motor like the 2017 Glamour series. The mill continues to feature the AFSF (Advanced Swirl Flow Induction System) and comes mated to the same four-speed gearbox as well. Performance figures of the bike also remain untouched and the bike still delivers 9.13PS of power and a peak torque of 10.53Nm. The bike gets alloy wheels and electric start as standard features while a front disc brake is not provided even as an optional extra.
