Unveiled in two trims, Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport, the new Hyundai crossover features a new design as well as more active safety options. Hyundai claims that it is more than just a simple refresh, though, stating that there are more than 350 new parts in total in the 2017 Santa Fe.
Externally, the 2017 Santa Fe features a redesigned front fascia, bringing it more in line with the looks of its sibling, the Tuscon. Its rear fascia has new taillights and a new, dual exhaust outlet design. The 17-, 18- and 19-inch wheels available also have been redesigned. LED daytime running lights and fog lights are available on certain models. Designers have also revamped the rear end, adding new taillights and dual-outlet exhaust tips. Other changes include silver rocker-panel accents.
Inside, both the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport add a host of extra standard technologies, including a backup camera and a third-row USB port for the three-row Santa Fe. A new seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto becomes standard on the three-row Santa Fe and optional on the Santa Fe Sport; both can also be optioned with an eight-inch screen and an Infinity premium audio system. Newly optional safety features include a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, an electric parking brake with auto-hold, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive headlights with automatic high beams.
Powertrain options remain the same with a continuation of the 2.4-litre, direct-injected four-cylinder engine with 185 PS or the turbocharged, 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 240 PS. Additionally, the three-row Santa Fe has the 3.3-litre Lambda II V6 engine developing 290 horses. All engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Already arriving in North American dealerships now, the 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport have been priced at $26,245 for the FWD Sport with the 2.4-litre; the Limited AWD Ultimate starts at $42,045. We reckon Hyundai will be bringing in this crossover into the country soon, with prices slightly higher than the current models and variants.
