If you're someone who’ve always wanted a chopper in your garage, we have some good news for you. India-based chopper manufacturer Avantura Choppers has officially debuted its first two models, Rudra and Pravega, at the 2017 India Bike Week. The Pravega has been priced at Rs 21.4 lakh while the Rudra will set you back by Rs 23.9 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).
Both the bikes are designed by a prominent name in the chopper industry, Kevin Alsop. He's also the founder of Big Bear Choppers, USA. Alsop’s design influence is clearly seen on the bikes when you notice that both carry a dual-tone theme, which goes along perfectly with a classic round headlight and a teardrop-shaped fuel tank. You get a single but wide saddle on both bikes and a chunky rear mudguard. To satisfy any chopper buyer, both the bikes feature copious amounts of chrome treatment on the forks, wheels, handlebar, engine and exhaust. The rest comes clad in graphics.
Both the Pravega and Rudra pack a 2000cc air- and oil-cooled V-twin unit from the American builder S&S Cycles. Ideally, this engine can generate 130PS of power and 180Nm of torque.
However, in order to make it road-legal Avantura has re-engineered it to run a lower compression for our fuel conditions. Hence, the powertrain now churns out xxPS of power and xxNm of torque in the India-spec motor, while transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed gearbox.
Both the bikes get the same single analogue pod that displays the tachometer and a small display inside it for the speedometer. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front and a linked monoshock setup at the rear. The bikes offer a ground clearance of 150mm and a seat height of 600mm. Both the bikes employ some of the best motorcycle components such as custom seats from Mustang, LED turn signals from Kellerman and Beringer disc brakes with six-piston calipers.
The Pravega gets a massive 21-inch front wheel with 120/70 R21-section rubber. At the rear, the 18-inch rear wheel comes with a massive 250/40 R18 tyre. Along with it comes a 21-litre fuel tank. The bike tips the scale at 347kg (kerb), which makes it 3kg lighter than the Rudra. Speaking of it, the Rudra is definitely the flashier of the two. It gets a 23-inch front wheel and a 20-inch rear one. The front wheel employs a 130/60-section while the rear wheel holds a gigantic 280/40-section tyre. The Rudra gets a comparatively smaller 17-litre fuel tank.
The company intends on staying true to the chopper lifestyle by offering a host of customization offers. This includes a different style of handlebars, headlamps, wheels, footpegs, rear fender, paint schemes and graphics. Customers also gets the option of viewing the final product in a 3D render.
