The new Mahindra Scorpio Facelift is all set to break cover tomorrow. It will be the first major update since the latest-generation Scorpio was launched in the country back in 2014. It is expected to get some minor cosmetic updates while some major changes may make their way under its bonnet.
According to the leaked images, the facelift gets an updated front fascia with a new Jeep Compass-like front grill and a refreshed front bumper which houses redesigned air dams and new LED fog lamps. Headlamps on the new car remain unchanged as far as shape is concerned but they now house a new set of lights and DRLs. Except for a new set of 17 -inch alloy wheels and a refreshed rear bumper and tail lamps, the side and rear profile are the same as before.
The cabin of the new car is expected to remain similar to the outgoing model, which get a dual-tone finish. What is likely to change, however, is the new centre console, which is expected to borrow the touchscreen infotainment system from its elder sibling, the XUV 500. The infotainment system on the XUV supports Android Auto and Mahindra Connected Apps.
Under the bonnet, the Scorpio facelift is expected to get the same 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine, should be in a different state of tune. It is expected to produce 140PS of power and 330Nm of torque, which is similar to what the XUV 500 produces. This engine is likely to be mated to a 6-speed manual/automatic gearbox. Mahindra will continue to offer the 1.99-litre diesel motor specially made for the Delhi NCR market.
The new Scorpio Facelift is expected to see a bump of about Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 in price over the outgoing model, the prices of which start from Rs 9.93 lakh goes up to Rs 15.56 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
