The hatchback gets a couple of added features. That's about it.
Nissan Micra to get more features

Nissan's sporadic interest towards the Indian market will give us the updated Micra tomorrow. On the face of it, there's not much new to report about. We expect prices to remain relatively unchanged as well, which should make it a notch more value for money. For reference, the Micra range starts at Rs 5.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 7.09 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Additions to the Micra are likely to be limited to automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers. We can expect Nissan to also make anti-lock brakes and airbags standard across the range. Currently, a driver airbag is standard, and ABS is available on all variants barring the base-spec diesel. Speaking of features, the top-spec XV variant will continue to sport features such as automatic climate control, 15-inch alloy wheels, a 2-DIN music system with four speakers and steering-mounted controls.

The interiors could be updated

Engine and transmission options will remain unchanged as well. The 1.2-litre petrol motor and the 1.5-litre diesel are expected to be carried over as is. The former develops 77PS and 104Nm and is available exclusively with a CVT automatic gearbox. The diesel engine, on the other hand, musters 64PS and 160Nm and is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. ARAI-certified fuel efficiency stands at 19.34kmpl for the petrol and 23.08kmpl for the diesel.

The Micra last saw a change in September, when Nissan made a few aesthetic tweaks and deleted the manual transmission altogether. Sadly, that wasn't enough to get the sales registers ringing again for the Japanese brand. By the looks of it, this minor update isn't expected to drastically change sales for Nissan either. But, it does make the Micra a slightly more compelling package till the next-generation makes its debut in the country.

PS: Nissan, in case you're wondering if the new Micra needs to be on sale in India, let us save you some market research — YES!
