Do Not Miss It!: Our comprehensive First Drive Review of the 2018 Maruti Swift
UPDATE: Everything you need to know about the 2018 Maruti Swift
There is no doubting the fact that the Maruti Suzuki Swift has been one of the best selling hatchbacks in the country. In fact it was the Swift that introduced the large and good looking hatchbacks to the Indian customer. After having gone through minor changes in the past, the time has come when the Swift will witness an overhaul. The first renderings of the 2017 Suzuki Swift came out back in March, where it was seen with a big hexagonal front grille. Now, an image of the production model of the all-new Swift has appeared on the internet (Facebook page Ferd) and it is indeed close to the renderings we saw earlier.
The Swift we see in the new image feature a hexagonal grille, but a little smaller in the size than the one on the renderings. The bumper is also slightly different with a sleek air dam, aggressive creases and large fog lamp housings. The headlamps are all new as well with chrome garnish and a new bonnet design. Also, new in the 2017 Swift is the floating roof, courtesy of the black tug on the C-pillar and the alloy design. The rear profile of the car has not been revealed but the rear door handles are moved up beside the window - like in the Chevrolet Beat.
Inside, we know from the renderings that the 2017 Swift will feature an all-new cabin. The highlights of the interiors are the new three-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel, redesigned dashboard with Suzuki SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system, AC knobs and vents.
In India, the Swift will most likely retain the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine and a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine. We are lucky, we might also get an automatic option and the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine as well. This Swift will make its global debut next year and India launch will take place shortly after that.
