Electric vehicles seem to be the flavour for the 2018 Auto Expo. With the Government’s push for electric vehicles, many mainstream two-wheeler manufacturers have announced their plans for entering the electric mobility space. It has also given rise to many new brands entering the fray as no particular manufacturer has cracked this segment yet. One such start-up is Twenty Two Motors. It had showcased its first offering, the Flow in Delhi last year. And now, company officials have confirmed that the new Twenty Two Flow will be launched at the 2018 Auto Expo. The new electric scooter is likely to be priced between Rs 70,000 and Rs 80,000, and will get a plethora of segment-first features. For instance, it is connected round-the-clock to Twenty Two’s cloud-based system and can also be linked to a smartphone.
Riders also have the option of remotely tracking the vehicle through the in-built Geo-fencing feature. The scooter can even be shut down with the smart app if it has crossed the set geographical boundaries without the owner’s consent (read “in case of theft”). It also features customisable ride modes, to alter the performance of the scooter based on need. Powering the Flow is a 2.8PS (2.1kW) DC motor which is among the most powerful motors ever offered on an electric scooter in India. The motor is fed power through a lithium-ion battery which can be recharged completely in just 2 hours, while a 10 minute charge will give you a range of 20km. According to Twenty Two officials, the scooter has a range of 80km and can attain a top speed of 60kmph which is decent enough for commuting.
If that wasn’t enough, the Flow also features a tech similar to KERS (kinetic energy recovery system) as seen on F1 cars that increases battery life by up to six per cent. Talking about features, the upcoming electric scooter gets an all-LED headlight, taillight and turn indicators, reverse mode to help while parking and cruise control. The Twenty Two Flow tips the scale at 85kg, and gets hydraulic disc brakes, telescopic front forks and high tensile steel alloy wheels. As you can see, the Flow is nothing like any other electric scooter in India. Needless to say, we can’t wait to checkout the production version of the scooter at the 2018 Auto Expo. Stay tuned.
