Here are the first images of the new Jeep Wrangler that’s expected to be launched in 2017/2018. While the test Mule at first glance looks identical to the current car, a closer look reveals crucial changes the new Wrangler receives.

A longer Cowl as well as longer front fenders indicates that the new Wrangler will be bigger than the current one. This translates to more interior space. The new Wrangler will get an extended wheelbase to improve rear seat legroom.

Reports suggest that the new Wrangler will be built with high percentage of aluminium and underneath the body cladding as a result, it appears to be a lot lighter Wrangler in these pictures. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne has already confirmed a "large portion of that vehicle that will be aluminum" but "it will not be all aluminum."

Since this is a first sighting of the new Wrangler, there is very little information on the rugged SUV. Engines on offer in the USA are all petrol units but the new generation Wrangler will most likely receive diesel mills too.

India is yet to get a taste of the new Jeep brand, over a year after Fiat introduced Jeep to the media. Fiat India now however is looking at finally coming through with the official brand introduction and within a few months, it could be part of the Fiat India portfolio. With the growing set of offroading enthusiasts in the Country, we will be watching the new Wrangler closely.
