Maruti Suzuki is set to launch the all-new Ertiga on November 21. Maruti has, however, revealed the exterior and interior features of the upcoming MPV through a series of videos. Meanwhile, a couple of images of an undisguised Ertiga that have emerged online have revealed various details of the interiors too. But before we get to the unofficial photos, let’s look at what Maruti has revealed through its videos.
For starters, the cabin is quite similar to the one showcased in Indonesia earlier this year. The connected AC vents on the passenger side as well as the floating SmartPlay infotainment system make an appearance. It even gets the Dzire’s flat-bottom steering wheel as well. Higher variants of the MPV will be equipped with automatic climate control. The SmartPlay infotainment system will get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration and will likely be reserved for the top-spec variant only. Meanwhile, a ‘Smart Hybrid’ logo on the instrument cluster suggests that it will come with Mauti’s SHVS mild hybrid system. The videos also reveal features like cooled cup holders, reclining third row with dedicated cup holders, a 12V charging socket and adjustable headrests.
As for the unofficial images, they reveal that the MPV will be quite a bit larger than the current model. The front fascia looks muscular and upmarket. All three rows feature adjustable headrests. The boot looks spacious even with the third row up. Plus, it will even feature a two stage boot floor for increased capacity, while the second row gets a 60:40 split. The loading lip too is quite low for ease of access.
The Ertiga will be launched with both petrol and diesel powertrains. Maruti has confirmed that the 1.4-litre petrol will be replaced by the new 1.5-litre engine from the Ciaz and is expected to be offered in a similar state of tune. The 1.3-litre diesel engine will be carried over as is. It will be launched in four variants: L, V, Z and Z+. When launched, it is expected to command a slight premium over the current model and rival the likes of the Honda BR-V and the Mahindra Marazzo as well.
